1982 North Island Futurity 10th/11th April at Arawa Trust Te Puke. 
Judge Mr Fred Johnstone, Scone, Australia.
$300.00(Est) Futurity. Entry Fee $30.00, 50% added

The 1982 North Island Futurity was won by the Mare Bogans Flower. Bogans Flower is by Bogun King out of the mare, Fleur Levan. She was ridden by Paul Nixon and owned by Eddie Cowdrey of Wellsford. Co-reserve Champions were Last Chance and Docs Twiggy. Last Chance is by King Ranch Endeavor out of the mare Wings of Song (TB). Last Chance was ridden and owned by Kathy McNutt. Docs Twiggy is by Docs T Bar out of the mare Gullawarra Quarter Measure. She is owned and ridden by Bruce Coleman of Taupo. Fourth Place getter was Rocky Lolita which is by Timor Clarence out of the mare, Kate. Rocky Lolita was ridden by Glenn Campin and is owned by Barry Toohill of Northland.
Fifth Place getter was Amaroo Peppy Joe. He is by King Ranch Endeavor out of a Welsh pony Mare, named Martini. He was ridden by Bryan Lowcay and owned by A Falconer of Taupo.

NZCHA FUTURITY HISTORY Part One
1981    1st NZCHA North Island Futurity. 
Held on the 9th August 1981 at the Taupo Western Riding Arena.

The North Island Cutting Horse Futurity held August 9th 1981, attracted ten horses from throughout the North Island. They were held in Taupo Western Riding Arena in cold and sometimes wet conditions. Emerging from the rest of the field to win by 1/2 a point, was Docs Doolittle with a score of 291. Docs Doolittle, a chesnut colt by Docs Poco Bar is out a mare, Widderin Chita Leo, is owned by Bruce and Heather Coleman of Taupo and ridden by Bruce Coleman. In addition to the Prizemoney, Docs Doolittle won a trophy buckle donated by Gerry Johnstone of Taupo. Main sponsors of the event were Stewart and Heather Hanlen of Gisborne, owners of Docs Dandy Bar, Brett Clothier, owner of Bee Line Boom, Bevan and Heather Stewart of Te Kuiti, owners of Ellerston Command and also Gerry Johnstone, owner of Been-A-Begga. The Reserve Champion was a mare, Docs San Tivio with a score of 290 and a half. Docs San Tivio was ridden by Richard Cowdrey and is owned by Eddie Cowdrey of Wellsford. Docs San Tivio is out of the mare, Salty Tulip. The third place was a mare Docs Holly Dell ridden By Ricky Glen with a score of 272. Docs Holly Dell is owned by Kathryn McNutt of Waipukurau. The fourth place horse was Poco Rebel Bar owned and ridden by Pat Roache of Aria with a score of 263.5
Fifth Place was a colt, Delta Solo with a score of 263. Delta Solo is owned by Mrs S Hole of Nelson and ridden by Bruce Coleman of Taupo. Sixth Place went to an Appaloosa Colt, Deck Bar with a score of 253.5. Deck Bar is owned by Gary Ramsay of Reporoa and was ridden by Bruce Coleman.
